A disability hero or heroine Is anyone who has performed
an act to advance the human rights or social standing of people with
disabilities. A disability hero or heroine need not be a person with a
disability; he or she can be a parent, a doctor, an inventor (such as Dean
Kamen, the developer of the IBot wheelchair), a policymaker (such as Senator
Tom Harkin, D-Iowa), a CIL director, an author or a reporter, in short, anyone
