years in the Clinton administration as assistant secretary for the Department
of Education, was a leader of the well-known 27-day sit-in in 1977 that led to
the enforcement of access to federally funded buildings and public

Frank Bowe, One of Our
Greatest, Dead at 60.
Frank G. Bowe, the first nationally
recognized cross-disability leader, a deaf professor who helped win civil
rights protections for people with disabilities, and an advisor to Congress,

If youre unable to work, go to

impoverished life. Seventeen years after passage of the Americans with
Disabilities Act of 1990, many people with disabilities still cant get to
work, school, stores, medical appointments or other places.
